Bing Mapping- Initial Setup

How to set up the Bing mapping on desktop

Prism representative needs to update the relevant Bing Map API Key

Setup Drivers with Pushpins

The next step in the Setup process is to assign different colored pushpins to each of your drivers, for clear visibility on the map. Each color/pushpin will represent a different driver.

Step 1: Open Driver Maintenance form

Step 2: Select a driver to set up

Step 3: In Information tab: set Map Pin

NOTE: Be sure to use a unique color/pin for each driver

Once you’ve set up the driver pushpins, you can view them on the Dispatch board by clicking Refresh, to ensure that no duplicate pushpins were assigned to more than one driver.

Geocode setup for all customers

For best practice, all customers should be Geocoded before using Prism Map systems. This will allow Mapping with Bing to run most efficiently.

For accurate mapping coordinates, ensure the Ship Address information is correct!

GeoLocating will retrieve coordinates based on:

  • Addr1, City, State, Zip Code

Never repurpose Addr1 for anything other than the Street Address.

Addr2 should be used for Suite#, Apt#, etc. and is NOT used for retrieving coordinates.

This application is only used to apply a Latitude and Longitude to a service address which will later be used to optimize routes in Dispatch. Once a Service Address has a Latitude
and Longitude, it will not appear in this application. The Latitude and Longitude can be updated in the Service Address Maintenance anytime after.

Step 1: Open Prism GEO Locator

Step 2: Click ”Find Addresses on the Map” to geocode each address

  • Occasionally, an address will not be clean enough for Bing to understand. In this situation, best method is to search by zip, find the zip, and Save
  • Prism suggests this as best practice because it’s easier to focus on a specific address as a point on a route, rather than just the general Customer address

NOTE: You’ll be able to reassign the location of the address during process of Map Optimization

When the first 50 addresses have been geocoded, Bing will stop popping up with new addresses. To complete the Geocoding process:

Step 1: Click “Save Lat/Long”

Step 2: Click Find Addresses again, and again save the next 50.

  • You’ll continue to Geocode until you’ve completed geocoding all your customers.
  • Once all addresses have been Geocoded, new addresses will stop popping up

Please note that these a Service Address will need to contain a Schedule in ServQuest in order for it to appear in the Geo Locater.

Once all Latitude and Longitudes have been saved. A user can see the Latitude and Longitude inside of ServQuest Address Maintenance screen entered in. See below image with the Latitude and Longitude fully entered.
